Project Description: Historic Irvington ADU

Located in Portland, Oregon's Historic Irvington Neighborhood, this architectural project is a thoughtful addition to an existing property, designed to blend seamlessly with its historic surroundings. Given the neighborhood's rich architectural heritage, the design required rigorous review and approval from both the neighborhood association and the City of Portland Planning and Zoning. This process ensured that the new structure adhered to strict design standards, with the goal of making it look and feel as if it had always been part of the original home.

Design and Historic Integration:

The client’s primary goal was to create an Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) that would not only serve as a comfortable space for extended family stays but also as a functional addition to the property when not in use. The design was meticulously crafted to mimic the architectural style of the existing home, respecting the historical character of the Irvington neighborhood. From the exterior materials to the roofline, every detail was carefully considered to ensure that the new structure would integrate harmoniously with the historic home.
